PAW residency 2026

PLASTIC Animation Workshop – residency program

Year: 2026 / Genre: residency – project development / talent development / professionalization

The PAW Residency Program is designed to foster creativity and collaboration among recent graduates and students from The Animation Workshop. This initiative, a partnership between Plastic Collective and TAW, aims to support community building, young creatives, and the development of their original projects. In doing so, we are also planting the seeds for future collaborations.

Maja Lindberg :
Mais is a second-year Character Animation student at The Animation Wokrshop- VIA University College, with a strong interest in 2D animation, expressive posing and dynamic character action. Her work is inspired by artists such as Hiroyuki Imaishi and Studio Trigger, and she is particularly drawn to energetic, character-driven movement. Alongside animation, she enjoys strength training and baking sourdough bread for friends.
WORKING ON: Maja will divide her residency between three animation projects: developing animation tests and an animation bible for Epidermal, creating new 2D animation work for her portfolio, and animating on the independent project Rage Quit. The residency will give her time to strengthen her animation practice through production work, studies and collaborative animation sessions.

Louie Moncollin :
She is an animation student at The Animation Workshop, interested in developing her skills across the full 3D pipeline. Through a small-scale project, she aims to explore the process from start to finish while building a proof of concept for her third-year project. She is particularly interested in learning new tools and plans to use Blender as part of this process.
WORKING ON: a small 3D animated short following a character climbing a tree, inspired by summer, childhood curiosity and playful energy. Louie will use the project to explore the full 3D animation pipeline in Blender—from modelling and rigging to animation, lighting and compositing—while developing a proof of concept for a future third-year project.  The project combines an illustrative, mixed-media approach with stop-motion-like 3D animation and strong, playful poses.

Zita de Thoury:
Zita is an animation student interested in themes of queerness, anti-speciesism, sociology, and the relationship between intimacy and community. They are drawn to naturalistic, naïve and absurd storytelling, and to work that explores everyday relationships and social structures. Alongside animation, Zita enjoys collaborative zine-making, linocut and observational sketching, often inspired by the people around them.
WORKING ON: All About Love, a collage of illustrated interviews exploring love, affection and relationships through conversations with friends. During the residency, Eurielle will develop the narrative and sound structure of the project, working towards a first animatic and establishing the visual and production pipeline.
