Where Do Animated Shorts Belong in Denmark?
Rethinking Distribution, Context, and Audience.
This panel discussion at PLASTIC Collective brings together voices from the film and art sectors to discuss distribution, exhibition formats, and new opportunities for animation aimed at adult audiences. Grounded in a field undergoing significant change, it invites reflection, knowledge sharing, and fresh perspectives on how animated short films can find their place within the Danish cultural landscape.
The event is for filmmakers, producers, artists, curators, cultural professionals, students, researchers, and decision-makers interested in audience development and the future of animated short films for adults in Denmark.
PANEL:
Pelle Møller – Film consultant at the Danish Film Institute’s Children and Young People’s Centre, supporting film, television, documentary and animation projects for audiences aged 1–25. Former author, screenwriter, director and editor at DR Ramasjang.
Katrine From– Curator and Collection Manager at HEART – Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, focusing on art and design from 1945 to the present. Exhibition Coordinator for the Socle du Monde Biennale since 2017.
Claudia Munksgaard-Palmqvist – Danish experimental filmmaker, animator, teacher and festival programmer working to make experimental film accessible to wider audiences. Her films have screened internationally, including at Annecy, Raindance, PÖFF and Vienna Shorts.
Lana Tankosa Nikolic – Award-winning producer of animation and immersive media, founder of Late Love Production and chairperson of PLASTIC Collective. Her films and VR projects have received more than 100 international awards.
MODERATED BY:
Jakob Høgel – Head of Education and Research at the National Film School of Denmark and documentary film commissioner at West Danish Film Fund. A visual anthropologist and former Artistic Director of New Danish Screen, he works across film development, education and policy.
